Production of ethyl lactate by activated carbon-supported Sn and Zn oxide catalysts utilizing lignocellulosic side streams

In this study, activated carbon-supported Sn and Zn oxide catalysts were prepared from hydrolysis lignin used for the conversion of model solutions trioses, hexoses, lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysates to ethyl lactate. Both catalysts, SnO2@AC [email protected], able produce lactate in high yields. was a more active selective catalyst triose (dihydroxyacetone) conversion, providing 99% yield by contrast, glucose hydrolysate with 60% 85%, respectively. The yields significantly higher than those optimized solution experiments when using protected] catalyst. These findings indicate that milder acidity together Na+ SO42- favored production, preventing byproduct, furan derivatives acetal, formation. Moreover, maintain their catalytic activity recycling experiments.
